A late starter in cars at the age of 21, and with little karting behind him, the Brazilian was a GP2 race-winner within three years.

He finished second in GP2 in 2008 and missing out on a possible Honda drive when the manufacturer pulled out of F1, Senna then switched to sportscars with Team ORECA for a year after Ross Brawn suggested that he needed more car development experience.

With only a day-and-a-half of F1 testing 18 months ago to fall back on, it's going to be a steep learning curve.
